Music Theory Games
I offer over 150 entertaining music games in my studio!
Music theory contains difficult concepts to understand and requires lots of practice and repetition. I love to have dozens of games on hand (some of my favorites are from Vibrant Music Teaching), for concepts such as: keyboard geography, note and rest values, landmark notes, note names, intervals, rhythm, time and key signatures, scales and chords, terms and symbols, practice strategies, improvisations and aural practice. That way, if a student needs it, I can review the same concept weekly, but always keep it motivating and new!
Technology
There are so many fabulous iPad Apps and technology out there to enhance the learning process which is why they are a staple in my studio!
A Little Paws Student might:
Use Decide Now! to spin a wheel to land on various warm-up activities
Ear train by matching the pitch of adorable blobs
Use play-along software to get a truly immersive piano playing experience
Use Note Rush to practice note reading
An older student might:
Use iReal Pro to practice scale and chord work
Use Piano Marvel to practice sight reading
Use Blue Note to master reading difficult notes (notes that fall above or below the lines and spaces of the musical staff).
Use backing tracks to practice chords in challenging keys
"Michelle is a wonderful piano teacher and I have improved so much over the last two years with her."
